First, let’s understand what vitiligo really is. Vitiligo is a long-term genetic skin disease in which white spots appear due to the death or cessation of cells that produce melanin, a substance responsible for skin color. It can appear at any age. It refers to areas of bright skin without pigment on  healthy skin. It is equally common to all genders and skin tones, but is more pronounced with darker skin types.
